A Roller Coaster Weekend for Bryan Reedy and the Reedy Racing Team at Martinsville Speedway

The historic Martinsville Speedway never disappoints. New permanent LED lighting made the Valley Star Credit Union 300 a race not to miss for fans and NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model Stock Car teams in the region. Reedy Racing went into the weekend wanting to be a part of the first race under permanent lighting at the track.

Bryan and the team unloaded and went through the pre-race inspection process on Friday afternoon before a three-hour practice session was slated to begin at 4:00PM.

The team fought to find speed during the practice session, ending up 60th out of the 84 entries at the track. With qualifying set to begin at 8:00PM, the team made changes and bolted on new tires for the European style time trial session.

After all of the cars had taken time, Bryan ended up 47th fastest. The gains made from practice to qualifying earned the 15th starting position in the third heat race scheduled for Saturday evening.

The teams were allowed to make changes early in the afternoon before rolling the cars on the starting grid for the heat races. Bryan battled hard and finished 13th out of 28 starters in his heat, ending up three spots short of making the feature race.

With the thirteenth place finish in his heat race, it placed Bryan sixth in the starting order for the 25-lap last chance qualifier. Bryan survived many restarts in the wild race and finished third, earning a 35th place starting spot in the 200-lap feature race. The crew made changes that were allowed before the race began.

The first 79 laps of the feature were run caution free, with Bryan moving from his starting position to 22nd in the running order. At the 100-lap halfway break, the team added fuel and looked to continue their march toward the top 15 running order.

A grinding lap 143 crash would end the night for Bryan and the team. After the checkered flag, Bryan and the team were credited with a 25th place finish out of the 42 starters.
